Hello,
I have this strange Audio and Video issues when watching Live tv or recording on my Plextor TV402U.
The Audio sounds like it is using an "underwater effect".
The Video is shifted on the screen - showing the upper 1/3 of the picture on the bottom of the screen.
I tried different Audio and Video decoders but it is still the same.
I don't think that it is realted directly to GB_PVR. I had this issue
with every version.
To work arround this problem I need to open WINDVR 5 that came with my Plextor TV402U and tune into a random channel.
If I now close WINDVR 5 and restart GB-PVR Live TV my Audio and Video is normal again.
Does anybody have the same issues, or even better a solution?

Hi,
I have the same issue as you have with the Plextor TV402U.
I have been fighting with this issue for quite a while now. I discovered just like you, that if I started the WINDVR5, then it would work perfectly.
The sound is always very bad, and as you say sounds like an underwater effect. THe picture though, is changing. Some times I have the picture ok, sometimes it is like you describe, and other times it is missing some of the colors. Most often it is only the green color that get through.

I too, would like if anyone knows a solution to this.

Hi there

I have a similiar problem but using a wintv 909 card. Could you tell me is the audio ok in the config program when you go to the map digital channels to epg screen?

Cheers

Hi,

The "map digital channels to epg screen" is grey'ed out in my config.

Anyway the channels from the EPG does not match the actual channels from my provider, so therefore I entered them manual. A being the same channels from the WINDVR5.

I have no problem with the actual channels. GBPVR choose the correct channel, its just like it do not initialise the driver correct(or something like it).
So the audio and picture is messed up.

cheers

Hi Again,

Another finding. It doesnt seem to make any difference if I change the resolution, codec or streamsize. It seems like I get the same result every time. It does not change the resolution either.

Even if I choose NTSC or SECAM (I should use PAL), then the resolution and result is the same :-(

I couldn't tell you how it's happening, but I just heard that effect on other audio. It's audio I compressed way down to fit on the mp3 player. It happens to any audio I reduce in quality too low.

Again, no idea how it's happening, and it could be your whole a/v stream is being downgraded or compressed (which would also give you some shifting/distortion).

All I can think of is either GB is somehow being told you have different HW, or it's interpreting it wrong. Or, somehow your live quality is being (re)set to a low or below quality.

Try recording w/ a high setting, and see how it looks. If it still looks bad, use a program (not sure of an mpg one off the top of my head, but there are plenty) to see what the a/v freq and bitrates are. If they are lower than what you recorded at, then your problem is happening there somehow.

This is still happening to me.
Tried to reinstall GBPVR.
I somehow think its caused by the Intervideo Software.
Unfourtunenatley WinDVR and WinDVD Creator are needed
for GBPVR to work with the TV402U.

You should only require WinDVD Creator. I dont have WinDVR.

I just found out that the "Strange Audio & Video issue" only
appears after I reboot my system.
The workaround is - I just open WinDVD Creator 2 and tune into a TV channel.
After I close WinDVD Cretaor and start GBPVR, sound and video are fine again.

There is one big problem with this for me, because I use a thinkpad computer that goes into standby every time the computer is idle. GBPVR wakeup the thinkpad record the correct channel, and set the computer on standby. This works perfectly.
When I have a look at the recorded show, the sound and picture will have this strange issue.
The big problem is that every time the computer goes to standby, when it comes up again, then picture and sound is wrong. Not even the resolution or bitrate is set correct.
It is right that if you start Windvd creator and tune into a channel, then everything works. The picture is good, and so is the sound. And the bitrate will function.
But still this will only work, if the computer is running all the time, or if you start the Windvd creator every time you want to use GBPVR. This makes scheduling a bit useless (In my case)

Anyway, thanks for a very very nice program.
(It works perfectly if you start the Intervideo software first)
