Subtitles always show by default!

I have a library of films some of which have subtitles muxed into the file.
Great, but NPVR always plays the subtitles by default, when I click the Right click menu and select subtitles the subtitle streams are listed at the top of the drop down and 'No subtitles' is at the bottom.
This means that with an English spoken film I'm always having to turn them off manually.
Is there anyway to change the default so that 'No Subtitles' are shown unless selected?

AAre you using the NPVR Subtitle reader or still have VS Filter installed? - If you have ever installed SAF Filter pack it would be in there.

If the latter these settings in LAV splitter automate the whole process:

In Audio you specify which order of priority you want the spoken language [chi,eng] would give Chinese rather than English, if no Chinese, English over any other language - you probably want just [eng] here.

Then set Subtitle selection mode to advanced. and in the box put [eng:eng|f eng:off *:eng] this will give you any forced subtitles if the language is English. Switch off any other subtitles if the language is English and switch on English subtitles for any other language. (See below!) There is more information on syntax for hearing impaired etc. in the LAV Filters README which I have attached.

What type of file are these? NextPVR is only really playing an active part in the playback of .ts files. For other types of files, Windows decides what components to use, and that includes whether or not subtitles will appear by default. As Lao Pan mentions, if your system is using VSFilter or similar, it may have some configuration around which subtitles are shown by default.
