Hi all,
Did a daft thing last evening - went to turn off the TV but grabbed the wrong remote and put the PC to sleep .... during a recording. Realised immediately what I had done so woke the PC back up and checked it was still recording and yes it was. However, when the recording finished at the scheduled time it was truncated and terminated at the point I pressed the wrong remote. The Ready Recordings screen said it was an hour long but in reality it was 11 minutes.
Is there anything that can be done in either NPVR or Win 10 to ignore the power off button when a recording is taking place?
As always, thanks in advance for your input/thoughts/suggestions.

Hi , welcome to the forum.
Please see this thread for some info on this topic.

https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...wer+button

Basically, what several of us to (myselfincluded) is to disable the power button in windows settings to prevent this and tell windows to go to sleep after X mins of inactivity. In the bios I have it set to wake when I press the power button.

I made a utility to check db when recording and go into 'away mode' when trying to sleep the computer..
Basically it looks as if the machine is off, but the ram/cpu/disk are still going and will sleep after they're done with recording..
It doesn't prevent a "shut-off", but will delay sleep/suspend until recording is done..

i re-uploaded util...i should put it on wiki..look for tray icon after running it..put in startup to start everytime w windows.

this allows me to sleep computer when i want, my tv goes off and recording happens in background, then sleeps after..
if i hit a key on keyboard or move mouse or hit remote button while display off/recording, pc wakes fully and sleep canceled..
just make sure you don't use anything that 'forces' sleep without asking apps..[normal start button sleep is ok]

Thanks for the suggestions - I will try the bios one first as I usually just turn off the TV and let the PC go to sleep based on the timeout but I use the power button to wake it up.

Cheers!

A simple option is to put the server elsewhere so you cannot accidentally put it to sleep!! My server is installed on the top shelf of a wardrobe in the spare bedroom. The my router is in the attic so easy to feed a RJ45 cable down to the server. Similarly mains, satellite and terrestrial aerial leads are also fed down from the attic. There is display etc if I ever need to login to the server.

I have nothing so complex - the PC sits under the TV and the aerial lead goes straight from one to the other!
