Recording service not running at recording time

Hi,

this is my first post, forgive me if I have not posted in the correct area.

this setup is a server 2012r2 with BDA installed to allow for tuner support etc
a quad dvb-t card is installed and works normally
I access from either one of 2 vero4k Kodi boxes, and it all appears to work normally
every now and again, it appears that the recording service fails to record - presented with what appears to be a valid recording that refuses to playback
upon investigation, it would seem that the recording service has failed with the "Recording service not running at recording time" message

there should be no reason, and when logging onto the server, the recording service appears unresponsive (icon on toolbar will not right click & show settings)
stopping the service will not shutdown the service correctly and requires that the service be manually stopped prior to restarting.
once this has been completed, it will work for a few days again.
this seems to be.... intermittent or as result of kodi add-in miscommunication, but I cannot get the required information from the logs to track this down.

can someone please render some assistance?

Create a c:\temp directory, and see if a c:\temp\crash.mdmp gets created when this happens.

Hi,

now a different issue has appeared... 2 recordings that were scheduled last night, are still recording some 14 hours later.
this meant that another scheduled recording also failed with the same error
I created the c:\temp directory - nothing has appeared there

there does not seem to be a way to stop the recordings other than stopping the service - was this intentional?
I have opted to stop managing nextpvr from the kodi addon - just watch completed recordings, this appears to have stopped some issues.
I have attached the logs, but there does not appear to be any data regarding the 2 show that are still recording?

I've not seen any other reports of recordings that continue like this.

Looking in the logs, it does look like a recording starts at like 2:35am, and then the overnight EPG update starts a few minutes after. I guess it could somehow be related to guide data changes. I've always recommended users should try setting the EPG updates at a time you don't record. In theory the recordings should complete correctly when this happens, but there is the possibility of changing the guide data while recording might lead to problems.

i'll change the epg update time - didn't think it should have interfered with recording
i'll keep an eye on it

I was able to stop this from happening by using ONLY the NextPVR app on the server to manipulate recordings and schedules etc, but recently it started happening again.
i'm hoping that the latest release will address these issues?
i'll update and see how I go, but so far, there doesn't seem to be a clear explanation for these results, nor any way to address them.

maybe we can attempt to resolve this?

Were you doing the EPG update while recording again?

If not - post a new set of logs, with the name/time of the recording that had a problem.

sorry been out of the country... I was not doing epg update while recording, but have no logs at present that I can identify.
i'll wait till I have another event and post then
