I still don't understand the wear and tear (assuming your recording drive isn't the system drive). There will be same number of block writes when you do the move and the heads on the recording drive will likely be more active reading old files from your R drive then the SSD.
As for fragmentation (I probably haven't defragged a drive since Win95 and I haven't researched it much as I record to a NAS which is journalled) if you are writing one file the fragmentation should be the same. If you are recording multiple files or copying multiple files in post processing wouldn't both scenarios cause similar fragmented files?
