Trying to record New series NEW shows. Records all, old and new.

I select for instance NCIS. I click to record and select "RECORD SEASON (New episodes on this channel) which is CBS in this case and there are no NEW shows until September. It records all NCIS re-runs regardless of season on CBS.

Are you using Schedules Direct for your EPG or something else?
A lot of EPG sources do not identify if shows are new or old. If NextPVR doesn't know for sure if a show is new or old, it'll assume it's new. Most people in that part of the world use Schedules Direct, which is provides this information.

He recently posted he was using OTA guide.

Yep, that'd probably explain it. The OTA guide data does not identify if a show is new or not.

Schedules Direct needs an account from http://www.schedulesdirect.org/. It's $25 a year. It gives you multiple weeks of listings, with artwork, and extra info like season/episode numbers, new indicator, original air dates etc.
