Windows based client as front-end to Linux Server

Clients for use with NextPVR v5

For Windows users, the familiar nextpvr.exe user interface is available. At this stage it can only be installed on Windows, and will only connect to a NextPVR server running on the same machine.[/B]

Are there plans for the Windows based NextPVR client to be able to connect to a server on another machine like the one based on my NAS?

Possibly. There is only a couple of complications from stopping that happening today, which could be worked around with some effort.

In the future there will a new client too, which can connect to any NextPVR v5 server.

Just wanted to put in a vote for this feature. 

We are used to the NextPVR look and feel so I don't really want to go kodi, but I'd like to move the recording job to my unraid linux server.

Rather then a the Windows client this shows Kodi with knewc on Ubuntu talking to my v5 Debian server. Basically knewc on Windows is the same with mouse support. This mode called UI client is fully multi-platform

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try. I like the idea of running it on something other than windows. Just didn't want to learn a new interface, but that looks basically the same.

You don't need to run v5 to test it, install kodi for windows, install the knewc addon (I recommend the current rc4) and point it at your v4 server to get a feel for it.

The beauty of Kodi with the pvr addon or knewc is you don't need a full PC to watch NextPVR. Many small cllient will work as well (maybe better) than our PC.
