HELP!!

Bought a USB-UIRT for $75(£40) much to the wife's disgust and it arrived today. Got down to trying it out tonight.
Installed the drivers fine but when I come to learning my remote codes...... nothing.

The little LED blinks when I press a button on my NTL:home remote but no response in when I'm learning the codes it just stays on "hold down '1'"

I've tried 4 other remotes and they all work fine just not the one for my STB.
After scanning thru the USB-UIRT forums the words IRda and no support keep jumping out at me.

I'm getting worried and the wife's getting more disgusted!! I'm feeling I've spent £40 on something that's not compatible with my STB.

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Which NTL box do you have, PACE 1000,2000,4000 are IRDA. PACE 4001,4010 and the silver Samsung are RC5. If your PACE box is IRDA then you may be better off with a red-eye serial

hi cameluk
thanks for the reply

yeh i have a Pace 1000 box! typical!
I tried calling NTL to see if they'd swap it for an RC5 compatible one...... "not unless it's faulty"!
Think there might be a drink spillage in my house soon! unless I can find one on eBay!

Thanks again

The only way I could get my Pace 1000 STB to work with USB-UIRT was to fit a red-eye ir translator to the front of the STB. I left a post in the hardware forum together with an ir definition file for GB-PVR. Click here.

Get yourself a red eye serial. You can use this for pretty much any box, dependant on the setting.
I ordered mine and it turned up the very next day, plus it is a far cheaper solution at £28!
To install it just so you know:

Download REDEYE2 from the site and place this in gbpvr folder.
In gbpvr config, set channel changer.exe and point this to the REDEYE2 file. In the box below type "{channel}" if using com1, otherwise type "-port=com2 {channel}". Don't include the quotation marks!

Thats it!
