I've now read the sticky so I'll try to be more imformative this time...

As the title says, I'm using USB-UIRT (to change channels) and while it works in Live TV, it doesn't do anything when scheduling recordings. That is, the channel just stays at whatever it was initially.

I'm using GB-PVR 1.3.11 on Windows Vista SP1 (32-bit). The cable box is a Motorola DCT700. Logs are attached.

Thanks.

The look like the call to "UUIRTOpen()" API provided by the manufacturer is failing, but there is no indication. I'm not really sure what to suggest.

I've emailed the manufacturer to ask him why this might be happening.

Thanks for the very prompt replay. I'm standing by for any more help...

(By the way, I did forget to mention I do have "Allow service to interact with desktop" checked for the GB-PVR Recording Service.)

Well, this is strange and frustrating. Last night, I was just fiddling around and tried recording again. I hadn't changed anything (that I was aware of), but changing channels for a scheduled recording actually worked! No USB-UIRT error message in the logs! But this morning, with nothing different except the PC being shutdown overnight, it's back to where it's usually been: The channel doesn't change and there's an "Unable to open USB-UIRT" error in the logs.

Sigh.

Unfortunately I never heard back from the manufacturer, so not really sure what to suggest.

What about switching over to the USBUIRTSEND Executable file to change channels? You could try and see if that is working...

I'm willing to try this USBUIRTSEND.exe - it looks like it originally came from Sub on this very board, so Sub: Would this possibly help me?

But before that, I have discovered something weird but repeatable. Channel changing during scheduled recording was working again last night. Here's what I eventually seem to have discovered: If the first thing I do after starting GB-PVR is to schedule a recording, then channel changing works and it doesn't work in Live TV! If the first thing I do is go into Live TV, then channel changing works there but not in scheduled recordings. I normally looked at a little Live TV before scheduling any recordings, which is why it always seemed to be not working.

Sub: Does this mean anything to you?

(And just in case it makes a difference - when I say scheduled recording, I was actually recording a show already in progress on a different channel.)

Oh well...assuming what I'm finding out continues to work, then I'm looking at occasionally having to stop and restart the scheduling service if I want to schedule multiple recordings on different channels. Not too big a deal.
