Scheduled Searches - Default Directory?

Hi sub/Martin,

Recent scheduled recording worked fine but had problems finding where it ended up.

1. Scheduler says "Default" recording Dir which for me is (should be) "D:\GBPVRVids\" but it ended up in "Z:\NPVRVids\Sports Handball\Hardball_20200402_17301800.ts". Why would it not default to "D:\GBPVRVids\" (which had plenty of room, 82GB).
   
   
2. I also see it made a directory called Sports then put Hardball as a subdirectory; can I assume the ":" in the "Sports: Handball" recording name does this?
   

(as an aside I was a bit surprised it picked up Hardball but saw the description did indeed contain the word Handball!)

Your logs don't got back as far as when Hardball_20200402_17301800.ts was recorded, so I couldn't tell you why

According to your logs, the file was named "Z:\\NPVRVids\\Sports Handball\\Hardball_20200402_17301800.ts". ie, no extra "Sports" directory.

If the default directory is set the same way the default padding is, then I think if you changed the default directory it might only apply to new recurring recordings. You didn't mention doing anything like that, and I really might be wrong, but I thought I'd mention the possibility just in case.

<DefaultDirectoryChoice>spread</DefaultDirectoryChoice>

Which to me implies you don't get a fixed Recording directory.

Ah. OK. So how is spread decided? What are the choices for this option actually i.e. how do I get it to use Default until it is full then spill over?

Sorry I didn't phrase this correctly; normally the directory it creates is the name of the show. For scheduled recordings such as this one, it now seems to have chosen the name of the Search as the directory, rather than the name of the show. I guess I was looking for "Z:\\NPVRVids\\Hardball\\Hardball_20200402_17301800.ts" so was surprised to find it (after looking in the logs) in a directory named for the search.

So then I started wondering what the criteria was where it actually does this - Is it only when you have a colon between the Search name or is this always the case i.e. Dir name = search name.
