Well - I've got V5 installed and running, set Schedules Direct as my EPG provider, and have the channels imported for my first STB.  I have to delete a LOT of channels - partly because I don't use a lot of them, and partly because there are SD and HD channels with the same number.  Once I get this STB set up, I'll do the second.

Couple of questions, though, regarding changing channels that I can't find (or have missed...) in the Wiki...

First - can I jump directly to a channel by entering its number?  Looking at the Wiki, it seems like that can only be done in the PIP window.

Second,  and a follow-up to the first... - many of the channels on one STB will have numbers identical to the other STB.  Reading the Wiki, I can group them according to box, but if I can jump from one channel to another by entering its number, is NPVR capable of discerning one from the other, or will it ask which device I want to use?  Alternatively, in a situation like that, would I be forced to select from the EPG in order to get the correct device and channel?

Finally - can I add channels manually, even when using an EPG provider?  I ask because my Lobby Watch camera comes in through my cable STB, and likely won't be listed on the Schedules Direct EPG.

Thanks again...

You didn't mention which client so I will assume NextPVR.exe not web since you said PIP

You can jump by channel number but unfortunatley not major.minor.

It is best practice not to give two channels the same number. I know you want not merge your two STB's for whatever reason, but the display doesn't have to match the blasting number.

My SD listing shows lobby watch. You could make an XMLTV channel entry to add an manual entry, until sub adds the capability.

You can use a NextPVR Player (nextpvr.exe) with V5 and this functions the same as in V4 ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/player-settings

You can merge channels ... If you have the same channel on two devices ... merge the two into a "single" channel and NextPVR Server will decide which channel to use based on which device is available (for example, not recording another channel) ... https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Add...e-channels

I don't know how to add a channel manually ... but somebody will (if it's possible).

@mvallevand -

Sorry, Martin - I was using the web client to work on the settings.  Next time, I'll use the .exe instead.  I didn't realize there was a difference.  Sorry.   Shy

It's not MY idea to give the channels the same number - it's a conflict between providers.  Say, for example, my cable box lists the NASA channel as 254, but that's WeTV on my satellite box.

>> but the display doesn't have to match the blasting number.<<

Ah, okay - if the display doesn't have to match the blasting number, that changes things.  I could, for example, set up BBCAmerica (satellite) as Channel 4 on my EPG display, and it would blast 264 to the box - and have BBCCanada (cable) at Channel 5 on the EPG display, and it would blast 065 to the cable box... correct?

>>My SD listing shows lobby watch.<<

Okay - I'll have to look for that when I get to setting up my cable box...

@sub -

I completely forgot about the standalone Windows program, and was using the Web interface for everything.  Silly me.  Shy
