Hi,

I previously used NextPVR v4 together with Kodi as frontend. Now I installed the latest NextPVR v5. Everything works fine except encrypted channels are not decrypted any more. Did I miss that CI/CAM is not supported any more / not yet or should it work? In v4 there was the option to use CI/CAM for the tuner, which is also not available now in the v5 configuration web site.

My TV card is a Digital Everywhere FloppyDTV-S2 with an Irdeto Cryptoworks CI Modul and valid card. Other receiver programs are capable of decoding, so the hardware seems to be fine.

Sorry, there is no CI/CAM support in v5 at this stage.

Thanks for the info. Any timeframe already planned when it will be available?

It's not planned at this stage. My cable company has moved to IPTV, away from DVB-C with CI, so I no longer have a way to test encrypted signals here.

I'm not saying it's not going to be added, but it's not something I'm actively working on. In theory the existing v4 support is still in there, and could be enabled and work, but there is some stuff that needs to be hooked up for that to happen.

Hey sub, you added experimental support for CI in a recent release: Added experimental support for Digital Devices CI on Windows.

Any chance to get this also for Digital Everywhere FloppyDTV/S2?

I was only only able to do this because a user provided me remote access for a few weeks to experiment with it on their machine. I had to connect maybe a half a dozen times, for couple of hours each time, over the course of a few weeks.

For CI support in the Digital Everywhere FloppyDTV/S2 to be a possibility, I'd need that option to be available too.

Oh, I thought taking over the code from v4 is more generic and not that time consuming, but yeah, I should have known better... Undecided

Anyways, since 31st I'm having again the startup troubles (famous red light) and it takes ages to get the signal tuned after booting if ever. So I'm considering now to get something new.

While I can reuse bits from v4, there is still a significant effort required for this type of thing, and ultimately it's too much work to develop this as guesswork with no way for me to test it personally.
