Hi. Thought I would mention that client setting for start ui in fullscreen is not remembered.  Oddly there is no save button like ver 4.  I recall you mentioning something about scaling ways back... but my display settings show 100%.  i was using a win 10 ver 20h2 OS with : Google Chrome  Version 87.0.4280.88

Zoom set to 100% as well on chrome.

Nextpvr installed on admin account.

Edward

Yeah, for some reason you've got some scaling going on, so you can't see the Save button. If you close it with the 'x' button in the top right, then it's not going save any changes you made.

BTW, if you ever change that scalling setting at the top, you pretty much need to reboot or at least fully log out and back in before it applies correctly.

I gave that a whirl... logged out of the settings in the browser just to make sure... exited the client using the exit button. Logged out of the admin user on windows... then selected restart.  Upon returning to the client setting "general" screen still no save or cancel buttons.  In fact no such buttons on any client settings screen.

Interestingly when you get transferred to the http://localhost:8866/settings.html# page and say GENERAL>> INTERFACE SETTINGS.... those ones save automatically and there is no save button.

Maybe one of the coders got mixed up with how the client is to function and called up the wrong layout meant for a web page or whatever?  Will leave it with your for the wish list.

There is one other issue I will mention that might be related... the mystery of the randomly submarining cursor.  When you start up the client, get transferred to one of the web pages for settings, do your business and come back to the client settings page where you see About/general/media/folders/decoders/devices & channels..  there is randomly no cursor...(i say randomly because it may work fine the first few round trips but then it gets messed up later on.)   but if you move your mouse around the client image randomly enough... you see each of those buttons getting hilited within a light gray rectangle... should you slide the mouse far enough in one direction to return it to the underlying screen like that of a chrome browser.. the mouse reappears.

Hope these help next time you go to adjust the client GUI.

The web app doesn't have save buttons. It was designed to just save settings as your change them.

The nextpvr.exe settings screen does have save buttons (to follow the model used in NextPVR v4 etc). It looks like the screen below for most people.

I'm wondering if it's maybe because 1366*768 is too low. Are you able to temporarily try a bigger resolution?

I had been meaning to fix this. I don't spend a lot of time in the nextpvr.exe settings screen, and only just saw this recently.

I've fixed it for the next release.

Well I think you are on to something there.  I did not see those dimensions in the nextpvr config file.   This is probably a lucky find for the nextpvr development process as this is 1366x768 screen configuration.  Most laptops are sold with this screen size in places like Best Buy in this age of covid when all the FHD screens machines are sold out.  They call it HD which is laughable.

I plugged an HDMI cable into this thing from the LG tv set and pushed the switch to second screen... which is a 16:9 1080p screen.  the missing save and cancel buttons magically appear.

So I guess the issue is with nextpvr ver 5 not supporting HD screens.... only FHD as the big box stores call them..  It might be worth noting this in system requirements if it cant be fixed.  This would reduce the likelihood that people will think npvr is buggy when they cant save their settings.

My planned installation would have at least a 720p screen so I think it will be ok over there.  Thanks for the tip.

I just checked here, and it's displaying fine on my 3rd monitor set to 1366x768, so it doesn't always seem to be a problem. That's not a huge surprise to me - since the early days of NextPVR we've always had some users encountering weird scaling things (seems to vary on factors like display drivers the user is using, number of monitors etc). Windows seems to work in weird and mysterious ways at times.

Can you post a screen show of your Settings->Decoders screen, and Settings->Media Folders screen, so I can see where they are being clipped?
