Feasible yes, there was a mode in GBPVR that did this years ago, but I expect that would be limited to Direct Show graph playback on Windows. Practical no, things are more complex now and you have to consider things like multiple platforms, multirec where the same tuner is used to feed multiple clients and allow padding on back to back recordings etc.

I do offer a mode in Kodi where you can access an HDHR directly and the speed difference isn't worth it.

It is more to avoid unnecessary writing to disk since I never pause live tv.  How does one access this mode in Kodi?  Thanks.

Its not trivial and since NextPVR isn't managing the tuner you'd need to make it a low priority tuner to avoid NextPVR taking the tuner. I'd only use it for your channels you watch a lot. If you are still interested start a new thread.
