[Kodi] Directory Folders for Recordings

Would it be possible to add a setting to the Kodi client that enables showing the configured directories as top level folders when viewing recordings?

I see that there's a way to filter by directory in NextPVR's UI, but not when viewing recordings from Kodi.

I'm looking to move away from MythTV as a back-end timeshifting/PVR server for kodi and I feel like this would be the only feature I would miss.  NextPVR seems much easier and more reliable in every other way and I'm looking to switch soon!

Could you show some Kodi screen captures of how MythTV is doing this filtering (using the Estuary skin).

In MythTV, they're referred to as "Recording Groups" and they're always on.  However, there are settings for choosing if you want the "LiveTV" group to show up or not with the temporary timeshifted recordings, and a setting to determine if you want "Default" to show up as a group, or just have all the recordings in the default group show up in the root folder.

Ok thanks it is much clearer seeing that now I was thinking filter not sort criteria. That is certainly possible but it takes more than a change in pvr.nextpvr, I think sub might need to create an API to get the recording directory names if security for method=setting.get is not available. There would also be an issue if you change the destination name directory, I'd probably sort them into Default.

This is amazing!  You work fast!

I setup a box with the Nexus alpha and it works with the add-on you linked.  I see the directory names in the root recording folder as expected.

For some reason, the add-on crashes kodi if I have any recordings that are in the default directory.  I don't know if this has to do with the folder issue you pointed out or not.  However, my directories aren't nested like your example.  I use /recordings/default, /recordings/directory1, etc.

The kodi log stops right before the crash, so I can't find a specific error, but if there's a way I can help with the debug process, I'm ready and willing.

Since you are using Windows for the test could you try this.  I made a slight tweak and log some more info.

Sorry, if it was supposed to create a separate log file somewhere, I haven't found it.  Can you please describe which file you're looking for?
