I enabled <importVOD> in the config and took a look at the channel list in "update m3u". You were definitely right. What I thought was a small amount of videos/channels turned out to be thousands.  So yeah. You told me so. For sure.

---So, I've decided to enable only a small group of VOD (trending movies) and to access the VOD / On Demand on the NextPVR desktop app.  (Which I'm just realizing that there's a possibility of editing the keymap to use my remote to make it user-friendly for my wife).

***Here comes the issue***:
The "On Demand" button appears to be working in the desktop app.  I open the folder (trending movies) and click on the movie I want to watch.  NextPVR says "opening stream" or something.  But then nothing appears to happen.  But the tray icon turns RED.  Coincidentally I happened to open Kodi and the widget says "Currently Recording" the movie that I had selected. So interestingly, instead of opening the stream, NextPVR is recording the movie rather than playing it (and the nextpvr kodi addon is working well to deliver that message).  So. any ideas what I'm doing wrong? (Feels very close to being perfect.) I was hoping for the movie to just start playing in NextPVR.

It’ll only add new channels. It won’t remove existing ones.

That's exactly what I was hoping you'd say.  Thanks!!

I forgot to mention that after it says"starting stream" nextpvr desktop app closes. When I reopen the app the movie I tried to play is recording (under "recordings")

Unfortunately that OnDemand screen was never really finished. There is too many oddball things it needs to contend with at the IPTV provider side. It works if the wind is blowing the right direction, and the IPTV provider files are the right type, and the network connection to the IPTV provider can download the stream in faster-than-realtime.

FYI, the OnDemand is trying to download the video as a recording, doing an on-the-fly transcode it to a .ts file, and play it. If everything goes right, it just start playing, and you don't really know this is happening behind the scenes.

Is there a way for nextpvr to play the file without transcoding? possibly by selecting an external video player for "on demand"?
