Hey, Martin.

Where does the desktop gadget save it's settings?

I'm trying to have 2 instances monitoring the servers at both my home and my mom's home (where I'm currently staying). I can add 2 instances in 8GadgetPack. And then I can change the settings in one instance to point to the other server. And all is then OK for a bit. But after a while, they both end up back with the same settings.

I'm hoping that there is a relatively easy way to create a 2nd instance with separate settings.

You'd probably have to edit the source (which is included in the application)

@BrettB rather then a second instance did you try unzipping a copy into a second folder? You can edit gadget.xml to give it a unique name.

Do you have so many issues with recordings that you really need this? I never run the tray app or this app and all my issues are typically my own doing.

Making a "2nd gadget" with a slightly different name is the approach I was thinking of, actually.

While I'm here, it is helpful to easily be able to monitor both servers for a couple of reasons:
  • My main server at home has 6 HDHR tuners plus Locast for local channels, so can pretty much always record everything that I want/need. However, the little server I've got here at my mom's only has an Hauppauge DCR-2630 with 2 tuners, so can only record 2 simultaneous shows. And I don't have all of my "regular" shows set to record here. With the 2 desktop gadgets on top of each other, I can easily compare which shows are scheduled to be recorded each place. And, for instance, if I have an available tuner here, I can add another recording here.
  • With me not regularly watching (and deleting) all the shows at home plus having both the .ts and .mp4 versions, I've been running into default recording disk full issues some. Having the free disk space shown is handy to know if I need to swap the default recording device. Yes, I know that disk space is relatively cheap. But that server is in MN, and I'm in NC, so can't easily add another drive right now.

EDIT: Also, I readily admit that this is not at all a "typical" NextPVR situation. But it's what I find myself in right now...

Sub's fixed the issue with mp4 files so you should be able to delete the ts file in the next version.

I'm surprised you don't have the bandwidth to watch your local shows remotely, the locast recordings should easily stream.

Yes, I've been watching about the .mp4 files.

And I'm pretty sure that I do have the bandwidth to watch (at least some) from my home server here now. (Since I've got gigabit fibre Internet at home.) But I already had the server setup here from a couple of years ago. And it's not super easy to switch either the Roku client or knewc back and forth between multiple servers. So for the most part the clients here are set for the local server here. I've got the one Roku Premiere set to go to my home server to watch, delete, and color dot flag recordings as appropriate. (Note, that my roommate is still at home and also using/watching on the server there.)

Maybe not "super" easy but 3 keystrokes seems way easier then having to review two gadgets.

- Long * - Manual - Add to get your remote
- Long * Scan and Select to get local.
