Here is a cheap device option for the new NextPVR Android client.

Walmart Onn Android TV 4K Review It is currently available in the US for $19.88.

I have NextPVR uidroid client installed on this device and it is working very well with NextPVR.

Because it is isn't available in Canada I was fortunate to have received one as a donation from BrettB yesterady. (Thanks!). For the money it certainly is a capable device. My one beef with it is the DPAD centre on the remote. It is indented and small so not ideal for hitting with a thumb until you get some practice with it.

Did you find any good sites to remove applications from it? I want to get rid of Hulu and Youtube TV since they aren't available here.

I'm not a fan of the Onn remote either. However the TiVo Stream 4K remote works well with the Onn if you don't need the dedicated buttons.

Here is a link that I used for debloating the Onn Remove bloat/apps from Walmart onn streaming box : AndroidTV (reddit.com)

For those that have the ONN I installed the Lineage 18 version of Android TV 11 and while it isn't too hard if you follow the instructions carefully, there isn't much value because mpeg2video isn't supported and media support in general is infererior to the stock Android. This is to be expected.

Edit: It isn't just mpeg2video there is no h/w decoding at all.

The ONN remote can be hooked up to other devices and the 4 dedicated keys (Netflix, Disney etc) are actually available as keys that could be reassigned in a future update of uidroid.

There is now an updated version of the ONN box https://www.walmart.com/ip/onn-Google-TV...2835618394

Pros

- AV1 h/w decoding
- lower list price, amazing for a full NextPVR client.

Cons

- still only 8GB not great.
- no bookmark key which uidroid used for Play. Maybe the user key will work?

You can decide if Google TV vs Android TV is a pro or con.

I haven't tried uidroid on it but I have another S905y4 box so it should work fine.
