EPG auto-update woes!

I'm experiencing some strange problems with the EPG auto update feature.

When the hour specified in config for updating arrives, GBPVR wakes the system from standby but does not auto-update (actually, it wakes the PC 1 or 2 minutes before the hour). No errors are logged to the GBPVR log files nor to the screen - it seems like it simply wakes the PC and attempts to do nothing more. I assume that if GBPVR attempted to auto-update but encountered an errror (say, lack of internet/network connectivity), some sort of error would be logged.

If the PC is already awake when the auto-update hour occurs, EPG auto-updating *succeeds* without incident.

Thankfully, GBPVR has no problem waking the PC when it needs to perform a recording, so I don't think the problem pertains to the the PC's standby configuration.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Just a guess but maybe GB-PVR doesn't log failed network connections when attempting to download the EPG during auto-update and maybe the drivers for your network card don't wake from standby automatically. You might've answered your own question, I'm not sure - my EPG download is handled by a separate scheduled task (XMLTV) so the auto-update is just a case of reading the XML file from my HD and no connection is needed at that point.

Cheers,
Brian

I have verified that network/internet connectivity is working upon wake-up, so that this is not the problem. Thanks for the suggestion, anyway, Brian.

According to a thread in the Wishlist forum (see here), other people have begun to report similar problems.

I am beginning to suspect that Sub may have modified the way GBPVR handles auto-updates, and that this has led to a few of us having the same experience.
