tuner wont record anymore

Tuner wont record anymore. When I try to watch live TV I get the error message-

"Unable to find available capture device
(an error occurred while sending the request.
Unable to read data from the transport connection. an existing connection was forcibly"

npvr Version: 5.2.3.211114 (this happened on an older version so I updated to the latest to no avail)
 
I have had some weird problems with audio on the PC and have been installing and uninstalling various sound programs. One of these programs turned off the following in device manager "system devices - high definition audio controller" which caused me problems, so I turned it on - now I have two of them! I dont know know if that is related or not, but the timing is exact

I have unplugged, and replugged the USB tuners and power cycled it.
All seems fine, all tuners are detected but fail when NVPR tries to use them.

You probably should have made this a new thread since that is a generic error that most users will get. The error is NextPVR is having trouble with your tuning device so I would expect it is also an USB error. Do you also have two of that device or is it a dual tuner? That is what NextPVR is seeing?

In any case it is failing tuning the second device.

Perhaps disable device 2 and see if the other tuner works.

It's a dual tuner.
I have disabled tuner 2 then tried live tv and recording, all failed. Then I disabled tuner 1 and enabled tuner 2 and tried live tv which failed.

Yes it is definitely not able to connect, so it is likely a h/w or driver issue of some sort. Does it work with the software that came with the device?

The tuner is getting old now and I can't find the original software.

I have used the Windows Media Creation Tool to reinstall win 10 over the existing Win 10 keeping programs and data.

Now recording works but the EPG doesn't.

When I click the button to update the EPG after a few minutes it says its done, but added/updated 0 entries.

I have tried deleting the epg first but it makes no difference.

Is there anything I can try without doing a complete windows re-installation?

It looks like the EPG update failed because the device was in use. Reboot and try again.

I tried that but no change.

So I deleted the tuner devices from NPVR and then added them back in again, now it works fine!

(NB I had also updated to the latest NPVR)
