Howdy,

Is there an easy, automated method to add the subtitle to the filename? Also, is there a dummies version of a guide to follow?

In my case, mostly for sports. Currently I'm seeing filenames like NFL Football_2022-01-15_20002300.ts instead of something like NFL Playoff - Las Vegas Raiders at Cincinnati Bengals  - Las Vegas Raiders at Cincinnati Bengals.ts that Plex was giving me. Plex doesn't have near the recording options that NextPVR has but I sure like that naming convention Smile I know in the Recordings area it will display the subtitle info but would like to have it in the filename. Sometimes we copy recording to an external drive to view while travelling. I don't know what file to grab based on Title, DateTime unless I start viewing it to see what teams are playing.

I've enabled the following items:
Use S01E01 file naming format if possible
Use Movie.Name.(YEAR) format for movies if possible
Use file names with Plex date format
Avoid duplicate recordings where possible
Look for alternate airings on unresolved conflicts

Thanks!

NextPVR supports special naming for series and movie only and then falls back to default naming, however you can something similar with my RRImport utility. I actually think that duplication of the team names redundant and I don't know how Plex determine the NFL Playoff, but even that could be done just like that if you really want.

I'll take a look at RRImoprt. Hopefully I can figure it out Smile NFL Football: Team vs Team is fully sufficient for my needs. Maybe the playoffs get updated in scheduled direct before the recording occurs?

To be honest that naming might have been from Tivo, I don't remember. I've been playing around with different apps to find what works for me. The Tivo has been acting up recently so I'm trying to find a a solid replacement before it goes belly up.

You will have to decide which shows get the subtitle added, and if you want to keep the date too. If the match fails, nothing is changed so something like this to do the basic copy.

RRImport filename "(NFL Football)" "$1 - ?s"

if you want to make it really custom try

RRImport filename "NFL Football" "NFL Playoffs 2022 - ?s"

File changes are not permanent, but still play around with /p mode.

I struggle to understand why people who use programs like Plex and NextPVR with the great presentation of file metadata even bother with the file system but I wrote this hoping to understand.
