I am looking for a Remote Control, just the infrared receiver if I can get one with out the remote. I have a Logitech 350 remote that I will use. I have a Flirc I bought of Amazon but when I went to program the remote for it I received a message that it would not work because it does not have an IR receiver.

I have a Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD which came with its own remote an receiver. The receiver quit working a couple of years ago. I have been using a mouse ever since. I would really like to be able to use remote again, even if it is just for pause, rewind, fast forward etc.

However finding just a IR receiver, or at least one that is sure to work isn't as easy as it sounds. For example the Flirc I mentioned above.

Anybody have any recommendations for a USB IR receiver that is known to work with the Logitech 350 remote?

I am also considering this, even though it is apparently only Blutooth. But I'd like to have both.

Thanks.

If you're happy to work with an Arduino, there's a solution which would allow you to use your Hauppauge IR receiver and remote to control NextPVR on Windows. Let me know if you're interested.

Where are you seeing that message about no IR receiver? The Flirc should work for you though but it translates the IR codes to HID keyboard mouse commands. Mine doesn't need any other device.

Based on some comments by forum member pkscout I bought this Iguana works https://www.iguanaworks.net/products/usb...ansceiver/ device I use it as an IR transmitter and it has been flawless. I never used the receiver

I do not know what an Arduino is but, if it is going to cost a ton of money then I am open to almost anything.

I'd expect the Harmony would have to emulate an mce remote and the you would have to configure the Flirc device appropriately.

I did a quick search on eBay. There's a number of (relatively) inexpensive listings for IR receivers. This is what I entered on the search: windows ir receiver.

I don't think anything is needed. I setup my FLIRC as a Windows WMC receiver and NextPVR works as expected from an WMC remote but some keys did need to be mapped with the FLIRC app. Not sure about the direct Logitech support. I entered and still have to configure some keys on the WMC remote.

I have used a FLIRC before and it works okay. It's a straight forward solution.

The solution using an Arduino is similar, but the Arduino converts IR signals to serial data (over USB), and a Python programme converts these to keyboard input. The advantage is that it can be configured to different keyboard inputs by the window in focus, and also set to launch applications. It does require a bit of electronics and software knowledge to get it going.
