Ok I have another issue.  I had everything running perfectly then I rebooted the pc.  When it came back up and I launched NextPVR.exe it would say unable to connect to remote server.  When I go into settings to launch the local host:8866 the main page pulls up but there are no devices.  When I select rescan for devices it comes back with local host unexpected error.
I am unable to get the logs for I get the same error.  In the task bar the "N" Icon is grey not green.
I am stumped
Thank you for your time.

It looks like the server is offline, check that the "NextPVR Service" is set to auto start. Go to the Start menu and type services to get the service list

That was it. Then what do I need to disable to prevent recording while still having the ability to watch live tv?
Thank you again,
Bruce

Have you ever had that feature before?

Are you talking about buffering to disk while you're watching live tv? It always does that. It can't be disabled.

No,
Back on Jan 15th I asked if there was a way to disable the recording service and still have the ability to watch live tv. Sub suggested I disable it is the services. I did and it worked fine. But when I try it on this new install it did not.
Any thoughts?
Thank you,
Bruce

I remember the post and I hope your mother is doing better. I don't think you asked to disable the recording service and still have live TV since that is impossible.

That definitely wasn't the case. You can't watch the live tv without the NextPVR service. It manages live tv too.

Martin,
Mom is now in a retirement home. Just kept falling too much. Thank you for asking.
I know I did it and it worked perfectly. With that being said. Is there a way I can prevent NextPVR from recording? I just want mom to have the ability to watch live tv and not record.
Thank you for you time.

You cant run without the NextPVR service. It's always required that.

As a work around you could edit the config.xml to hide the TV Guide, Recordings and Search screens.

In reality, it's designed around recording, so maybe not the right sort of app for just a simple live tv viewing experience.
