1) I am rather new here, but I have been reading a ton! Anyway I was wondering if there was an easy way (via a plug-in or core gbpvr) that I can copy/burn a recorded TV show to DVD? Right now say I record Family Guy, and then the next day if my buddy missed the show I can just give him my VHS copy. I would like to toss my VCR in favor for gbpvr. How would I go about giving my buddy last nights aired copy of family guy that I 'taped' via gbpvr?

2) I will be getting a PVR500MCE (not the PVR500) because this is what my local reseller has. Are they the same cards? Can I use a PVR500MCE in place of a PVR500?

3) Under the quick install info I read :

"If you have a Hauppauge PVR250/350/USB2 device, Provideo PV258/259 or other Conexant Ibased capture device you should select the Direct Recording Plugin option for the Recording Source"

When I install my PVR500MCE card, I assume I will just use Direct Recording right?

PS> Ok that was 3 questions Wink

1) Dunno. I think reven was trying to add something like that to his MyVideos plugin, but I'm not sure.

2) There is only one version of the PVR500 (and yes, its of the MCE variety). Just select the PVR500 when you're setting it up.

3) Yes, use the Direct Recording Plugin.

Thanks guys for the very quick reply!

Ok, here is my *final* silly question (for now Big Grin )

Since I will be using a pvr-500 for all the hardcore encoding, and a mediamvp for sending that info to my TV, how important is the video card on my PC? I assume it does not matter one bit (it can be a very bad video card), since a GBPVR, PVR-500 and MediaMVP setup really does not use the PC video to do much of anything right?

Let me say it a different way. If I have a poor video card, where will have problems (Or will I?)

If you're using an MVP then the graphics card in your machine isn't important. Then again, if you ever do intend to watch on PC monitor, even the most basic of modern graphics cards will do - on the rare occasions I watch on PC monitor (wife hogging the TV downstairs), I find the onboard Intel Extreme graphics chipset on my mobo quite adequate.

Cheers,
Brian

Yep...and don't forget to setup 2 of them (one for each tuner). Smile

Man I think I found the best place on the internet, right here at gbpvr! You guys rock. GBPVR looks to be the best thing slice bread, and the support on this forum is number 1!!!

I am off to the store to try and find an MediaMVP and PVR500. Wish me luck!
