Recording terminated early

Hi all,
I am on 6.1.2, windows client, HDHR Quatro, logs attached
I set two recordings on different channels last evening, 20:00-21:00 and 21:00-22:00 with my usual 4 minutes pre- and post-padding.
The first recording terminated at 20:56 so that the second recording could begin.  But the other three tuners were all free so why did it not use one of them for the second recording?
Any thoughts welcomed.

There is an issue introduced in 6.1.2 that was addressed and fixed as a patch then released in 6.1.3 when HDHR tuners were being used by other PVR applications as shown by this

2023-06-25 20:56:01.602 [DEBUG][10] WebException: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (503) Service Unavailable.

I am not sure if you have the patch, though or if with the patch NextPVR will use a free tuner since if a recording is in the padding zone, it is considered available. If "The Larkins" is a hour program with 4 minutes of padding on each end (68 minutes) then there might be an additional problem.

For best results don't share your tuners with other applications.

As far as I am aware, I don't share my tuners.  The only TV program I use is NPVR.  At that time yesterday evening we were watching a recording via the NPVR GUI but nothing else was running - it's a dedicated PC for the TV/recording.

Can you suggest what else might have been using the tuners?

You can go to the HDHR logs http://192.168.68.55/log.html and see if anything was reported at time.

It could also be a different error perhaps related to the https://forum.silicondust.com/forum/view...hp?t=78170 depending on the firmware you are running.

Hi Martin, I hadn't thought to look at the HDHR log - here's the entry:

20230625-19:56:02 Tuner: failed to tune 4 Channel 4 (t8dvbt:490MHz-8384)
20230625-19:56:02 HTTP: rejecting request from 192.168.68.53 - tune failed

I checked out the HDHR firmware based on their forum thread that you mentioned and I have the latest. Looks like an odd one-off, I did four simultaneous recordings this morning with no issues. I have been putting off updating NPVR for too long, will move to 6.1.4 later today..

Thanks for checking. Was "The Larkins" in post padding at the time or was it terminated early?

No, it was terminated early. It was 20:00-21:00 so should have recorded 19:56-21:04.

Then sub should probably look into it anyway. NextPVR should only be terminating recordings that are in the post padding zone. I tried to duplicate it here but since I don't have a quad HDHR I don't have a second chance device so it did fail not stop the other tuner.
