Windows10 machine with monitor off.
Since 2\3 months scheduled recordings always fail. Instead I get an empty file. With ending ts.old. I still get correct show name and series folder. It could be related to updating to version 6.1 although not sure. Manual recordings of live TV still work as normal.

It probably relates to 6.1.4 but only because of post processing changes. I suspect ts.old is coming from automatic transcoding. Best bet is to make sure Settings->Transcoder-> Recording Auto Transcode is set to "Leave recordings in native format" If you must have that option, turn off Thumbnail and Timing generation. Additionally if you are post processing there are different conditions now.

Send your zipped logs and we can have a look to confirm.

Thanks for the swift reply.
Under settings Transcoder, I'm not seeing anything like "Leave recordings in native format".
Or anywhere else in the UI.
I have, preferred streaming profile.
Avoid transcoding where possible (for better performance). Video encoder options and Recording auto transcode.
If there's anyway to email me v5 that would be an easy option, trying to fix this remotely at the moment.

I'm sure we can get to the bottom of this quickly, but you'll need to post the logs.

You are no that first person with the ts.out problem in 6.1.4.  Make sure you have that last option set as shown here

The zipped logs might help sub fix this for the next release.

I don't have it, but it is not clear what the problem is or why v5 would fix. Make sure you use 6.1.5 to get closer to v5 post recording behaviour but turn off thumbnail and timing generation to make it closer.

NextPVR doesn't great any ts.out file if you leave it native so do need to check that setting.

Allow me to explain, I'm a simple user with a basic setup on a Win 10 machine. I first started using NextPVR over a year ago, with v5. I simply added my M3U and my 7 day epg came up, was able to record programs, watch thru Plex on the tv, download programs to my phone, super easy, all settings default.
Problems started 6 months ago when I stupidly updated a working piece of software, to this v6.
1, Sometime I get a ts file, sometimes a ts.old file.
2, Plex now views some programs as 1 day long!
3, Can no longer watch programs on the default Samsung video player on S23.
4, Have to use VLC player on phone.
5, Some programs can no loger skip through them.
6, I have about a 20% success rate of expected "normal" behaviour.
7, It will record 20 minutes of a 1 hour program.
8, Missing scheduled recordings.

I love the UI of NextPVR but I have no idea why I am still persevering with it, it's been giving me nothing but grief for 6 months. I don't understand how a change from v5 to v6 can create so many problems. Nor do I understand how tivimate can simply record everything I ask it to record correctly.
I tried all your settings suggestions Martin multiple times. Again, if anyone out there has a copy of v5, please let me know.

From what I saw NextPVR recorded "C:\Users\Alex\Videos\DADDY\NextPVR\3rd Rock from the Sun\Season 05\3rd.Rock.from.the.Sun.S05E14.ts" successfully and did not process it at all, so it is raw from your provider, NextPVR didn't do anything with it.

2023-12-13 08:24:00.298 [DEBUG][10] Stopping recording (8719 on 37). Past end time of recording. 1

Whether or not it was v5 or v6 as I said it was a direct recording so the version wouldn't have mattered. The timeline being reported in the raw data is definitely suspect though so you provider is sending junk.

2023-12-13 09:58:49.999 [DEBUG][77] [FFMPEG]: Duration: 26:28:16.80, start: 399.940000, bitrate: 72 kb/s

Ideally if you could make the recording available we could see if the file is corrupt or not.

My speculation is Plex is having a problem playing the raw file just as NextPVR is.

Perhaps you were not using the "Leave recordings in native format" option before and the post processing was perhaps fixing the junk that your provider is sending. There were issues in 6.1.4 with that feature and in 6.1.5 with timing and thumbnails off you can enable it.

At that time you must have had it set to transcode recordings. This was the only thing in the application which would have renamed a .ts file to .ts.old. Setting to 'leave recordings in native format' will stop the possibility of this happening. You appear to now have it set that way.

Quote:2, Plex now views some programs as 1 day long!
As Martin said, NextPVR is just capturing a copy of whatever your source sent, and not modifying it in any way. It's likely a case of your source having some garbage timestamps, and plex reporting incorrect information because of those bogus timestamps.

Quote:5, Some programs can no loger skip through them.
This is a pretty common side effect of broken timestamps in your source material. Some players like NextPVR's own players are designed to handle it, so cope much better with some of the garbage it can receive.

Quote:8, Missing scheduled recordings.
If you want to give us the details, we're happy to look into it. I'm not aware of any issues in this area.
