I used to record two shows that (I thought) overlapped by about a minute or two. I never had a problem with it recording one then switching to the next one when it came on. Now it doesn't want to record both if there's an overlap. Perhaps Seth Meyers changed their start time so it actually DOES overlap and I was mistaken thinking it did before.

Either way, I'd prefer for it to just record the first and then stop when the second show starts rather than it refuse to try recording one of em at all.

I updated the software a few days ago. Has the behavior changed or what should I expect the normal behavior to be? Is it really "don't try recording at all if there's even a second of overlap"?

Nothing has changed with the overlap recording logic.

With back-to-back recordings on the same channel, it'll try to record the pre and post padding on both.

With back-to-back recordings on different channels, you should get pre padding on the first recording and it'll end at the scheduled time, then the second recording starts at the scheduled time and includes post padding.

When it is scheduling recordings, it'll only try to schedule recordings when the tuner is available (ignoring padding because that is considered "optional but desirable if possible"). If the shows overlap, then the tuner wont be available, so it wouldn't have scheduled one of the shows. HOWEVER, if you've some annoying situation like this, where some show is scheduled (for example) from 8:00 - 9:01, then some other second show airs from 9:00-10:00, in nextpvr.exe or other uiclient app, you can schedule that second show with a negative padding value. ie, -1 minute. This will allow the show to be scheduled. (sorry you can't currently do this in the web app)
