Regardless, it's still not going to make his playback be in sync, so that aspect is not really affecting him either way.

I had to try a 4 x muilti-rec test in sports bar mode with yauiclient and all things considered I didn't find it that bad, I expect if they were in different rooms https://youtu.be/51TZavjmERc you wouldn't notice. The 4K capture kind of stretched what OBS can capture smoothly. The display is smoother
I wouldn't put it in sport bar but selecting sound from just one "screen" isn't bad since they aren't terribly out of sync (until you pause or skip) Martin

Fair enough on the syncing, I understand, but again my dumb logic get's in the way of resource allocation, another stream, another session, bandwidth (for those who have limited resources, can't afford highest) etc. That's all. Maybe something toggle in a future release. I am mostly OTA at the moment, hoping to transition to a reliable legit IPTV provider and just bothers me if I had to stream the same channel 3-4 times. I know it may not seem like a lot to you but with data caps and quality it can eat it up. Maybe I am other thinking it, but some efficiency setting. Maybe 5 second markers, for those who want to pause and rewind the same stream. In my dumb brain doesn't make sense to re-do what you already have happening. But I digress. I love NextPVR (I am a paid/sub/donor) so, just a thought.
I think @ mvallevand gets what I am trying to get at.

Not really, a long time ago I accepted that when sub gave up EPG Mode for the v5+ rolling live TV one file would not really be viable. There are many practical advantages to having multiple cached buffers instead of multiple file handles to the same buffer. If you want to give up timeshift and stream all your Kodi client directly from the HDHR or even IPTV with no cache in NextPVR that is possible. That is how I do Internet Radio. Martin

There are a lot of things in that response that I truely do not understand at all. I shall stop, pause and collect my thoughts and reach out to you directly. No harm no foul.

Multi-rec allows one tuner or device to be used for multiple LiveTV sessions (like my video above from one device) and recordings. Unfortunately IPTV doesn't use multi-rec so you yes you would be using more bandwidth and connections to a provider.
DRM is encryption and all the legit IPTV int the US, like YouTubeTV, Fubo, Hulu and Sling are encrypted. EPG mode was an obsolete mode where NextPVR recorded LiveTV that was more file based like individual recordings so it would likely have been easier to share them. You still would have trouble doing the pin point seeking to play the same stream in sync. The HDHR can't multi-stream one tuner, but your 4K can stream 4 ATSC 1.0 streams so these will be as close to Live TV as you can get. If you install the Kodi pvr.hdhomerun app. I can mimic that behaviour in pvr.nextpvr naturally that is not going to allow seeking or pause. and you will see that is not quite in sync but it does have the minimum PC resources you asked about.
