No it didn't really make much difference.

The best combination I've found after trying out some others such as the Cyber linkis to use the Intervideo for Vid & Audio & have ffdshow raw video filter as the deinterlacer.

I'm going to try and pickup a cheap processor that my motherboard can handle (Athlon 1400) that should help a little.

Thanks for all your help again,

That didn't seem to make much of a difference at first, however I then opened up task manager and stuck the CPU/Memory graphs at the top of my screen & played around with lots of settings.

I now have it setup using :

Playback

Video : InterVideo NonCSS
Audio : InterVideo NonCSS
Audio Renderer : System Default (changing this to Soundblast live 24 didn't seem to make a difference)

Overlay Manager

Misc

Use Live Preview mode if possible
Deinterlacing : None (changing this setting causes problems now)

I've now got perfect playback, even of high quality video I recorded earlier today & was playing back choppy. I have perfect timeshift TV now too.

CPU runs on average of < 20%, however when I open the OSD it still yo-yos quite radically. Although it doesn't get as close to 100% as it used to I'm still getting the choppy performance with the OSD on.

Thanks again,

I have a PVR 150, an Athlon 64 3000, 512MB, and a RADEON 9600. I have the exact same problem. What kind of machine would be needed to prevent such a stutter?

mtrosenfeld, I don't think your problem is system. I'm running on an Athlon 64 3000, 1 GB RAM, Radeon 9500 and PVR 150. I've had nothing, but good performance from Live TV and recordings with OSD present or not.

Settings are
Video: InterVideo NonCSS
Audio: Cyberlink (version 6, when using version 4 would lose AC-3 on AVI's)
Renderer: DirectSound:Realtek blah (when I left it as default I would lose audio after switching a few channels in Live TV)

For video using VMR9, Catalyst 5.5 and the DVI->Component outputs at 1080i. Only problem I've been experiencing is a fair bit of tearing, but I blame that on the old video card.

oh, have you defragged your hard drive lately? That probably wouldn't have any effect in preview mode though, would it.

I have to agree with gmorse. You problem is not likely to be because of the same problem. You'll have no problems with the Athlon 64 3000 in terms of processing power.

My brother-in-law reminded me that I gave him my Sigma Designs Real Magic card (I think it's their hollywood plus) years ago and that this does Hardware Mpeg-2 decoding.

The most interesting reference I've found to this on the forum is http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...Sigma+real and the link sub posted does not work.

If anyone knows how I can get my hands on these emulation drivers it could really help me.
