I have installed GBPVR for the first time tonight.

I have a pvr250 with the latest drviers (18.22254) installed.

At first live tv would crash after about 2 seconds. I turned on SBE, and now it works, but if I use VMR9, the picture and overlays look very nice, but the audio very quickly gets out of synch. If I use Overlay Manager, audio gets a little out of synch, but PQ is bad and overlays look rough.

I'm using the Intervideo, Non CSS Video Decoder and same for the audio decoder.

I have tried with ffdsho on and off (it is installed) and it makes no difference.

What can I check?

Ok, a bit more info from more testing.

I have a Radeon 7000 VE dual head monitor.

The audio and video seem to be fine in the window size, when I go to full screen, the video gets a diaganol line running up the screen sometimes, and the sound very quickly gets out of synch with the video.

I have tried all the different video and audio decoders, with ffdshow on and off.

My system is:

Celeron 2.4 Ghz
512MB Ram
Radeion VE 7000 video
Windows XP Pro
Windows on c drive
Video being recorded to a seperate, empty 200GB Sata drive.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Some people can get video tearing like you describe with VMR9. Not just with GB-PVR, but also with other applications displaying video using Microsoft Directshow.

You might need to either stick with Overlay, or consider a faster video card, or hope newer video card drivers correct the problem. Sorry, these probably arn't the ideal answers for you, but I dont have any magical cure.

Hmm, Ok,

Well i'll try with some other applications and see if I get the same problem, I tried sage tv, and I don't think I got this problem exactly, but did get some pausing and jumping.

So, if I upgrade my main video card, that will help? What about the CPU? could that be a part of it or is it going to be more the video?

Thanks, and great app, really want to get it working.

I cant say for sure, and I hate to suggest buying hardware when there is the possibility it wont help. There isnt any magic 'make it work great, and get rid of my video tearing' setting.

Read more about this problem here: http://forums.freytechnologies.com/forums....tearing

Thanks I'll read through that.

If this helps at all, in overlay mode, the video and audio are not out of synch at all, but the video jumps and stutters as does the audio, all in synch thought Wink

It's like it can't keep up.

When i try wintv that cam with my hauppauge it is fine though.

I also tried changing the video quality down to "live tv" from medium.

Also, if SBE is off, i get about 3 seconds of live tv, then it frezes and the overlay shows "Buffer 0%".

I know this might not give you anything, just want to get it all here in case someone else has had this type of performance.

Try selecting a different MPEG2 decoder on the playback tab of the config app. Sometime the "system default" doesn't perform well. This will probably also solve your three second thing.
