this is not strictly a GBPVR question, but here goes anyways:

I'm thinking about getting an IR blaster for my PC, but I'm not very knowledgeable about them. Do IR blasters usually have to be affixed directly to the IR port on the settopbox or can I just mount it somewhere else? and do they generally need a direct line-of-sight to work? the reason I'm asking is that I intend to have the IR blaster control not only the set top box, but the TV and the audio system too, and having the thing have a direct line of sight to all those components would be difficult. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Yes, you generally need to place them in front of the device you want to control. If you're lucky and have a glass front on your cabnet, then there might be enough light reflected to do what you're after.

Some IR Blaster come with a port for plugging in a second LED, which could be sat in front of the second device.

Wow that was a really fast reply! Thanks for the info. I guess my dream of controlling all my components from the PC is gone, since I dont have teh cash or USB ports to plug in 6 different IR blasters Smile
