I have searched the forums and have not found a definitive answer on this. I have wasted hours trying to get my problematic hvr-2250 going and am now pondering dumping it and going with something more reliable and natively support in GBPVR. Has anyone used two PVR-150s with an IR blaster in each to control two STBs? Is the only option to use a third party blaster and not use the built in Hauppauge blaster? Are there any other issues that I should know about with using two Hauppauge cards and recording from two set top boxes? Thank you all for any help or advice you can provide!

Unfortunately the Hauppauge programming API only supports a single blaster. You'd need to use a third party blaster for the second one - sorry.

Thank you for the definite confirmation on this, I suspected as much but wanted to be 100% sure before wasting money on yet another tuner card. As popular as Hauppauge cards are I can't believe their software and drivers are so poorly written. Thank you for your quick and very helpful response, as always!

Blasting to two different STBs is almost certainly doable with MCE beanbag and remote using either Hip or IR Server Suite. There is a GBPVR Wiki page for doing it with Hip, and I think the MediaPortal site has isntructions for doing it with IR Server Suite (although I no longer needed to do it so didn't try to make heads or tails of the instructions, which seemed to lack details). MCE hardware is not that expensive on E-Bay.

Hey - careful, I write software for them these days Big Grin

I'm involved in WinTV7 though, which is just an application (like GB-PVR) that relies on services offered by the drivers etc. I also hassle other parts of the company about the limitations in the current IR receiver/blaster layer they provide. It is scheduled to change, but with so much other work on going, I'm guessing it'll be a while.

No offense meant at all SmileThey would be wise to take any advice you give them. I was specifically referring to the very poor IR blaster application, so here's hoping they bump up the priority on it! I guess i'll go hunting for a 3rd party blaster/receiver at this point. Thanks again!

I have pondered going this route, and at this point it's looking like the best way to go, I was just hoping for a more elegant solution. I have an antec fusion case and I mounted my current PVR-150's receiver inside the case where the built in IR receiver would normally go. It's out of sight. I suppose I could mount an MCE receiver inside the case as well...Thanks for your input!

I forgot to ask, what would you recommend as far as MCE remote and emitters go? I am looking for something with two blasters. Thank you!

The standard MCE remote / receiver comes with two emitters.
At least the one I got does.

Cool thanks for the link, many of the remote kits I've been looking at do not mention multiple emitters. Thanks again
