I use DVD Shrink to rip my DVD's. When it completes it creates a .VOB file which when i rename to .MPEG i can watch without any issue on my computer (video/audio). If i try to stream that same file to my MVP i get Video but no Audio. Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks in advance.

The DVD audio will be AC3, which is not supported by the MVP I'm afraid.

Incidentally, if you come across DivX files with video but no audio on the MVP, 99/100 it's the same issue.

Thanks!

One last question though.....

So even if i rip the DVD with 2-channel audio (i have the option of including both 5.1 and 2.0) there would still be issues?

Unfortunately, yes. The number of channels has nothing to do with the encoded format, it still remains AC3 (which is dolby digital, IIRC).

The only way to make DVD backups that will play across the MVP (that I have found) is to use DVD Decrypter and extract individual element streams - video and audio. You can then convert the AC3 file to MP3 using BeSweet and then remux them back together to form an MVP-friendly MPEG-2 program stream.

It's not as easy as DVD Shrink, but it can be done. Search for 'DVD to MPG' at http://www.videohelp.com - hope this helps.

You can also use the video archive plug-in which will automate all these steps for you.
