Just reposting this info from the official 93.10 announcement thread, to make it easier to find for Theater 550 users:

If you own an ATI Theater 550-based encoder and you're getting zero-byte recording files in the latest GBPVR (v93.10), use notepad to change the "AutoDetectEncoderMethod" attribute from 2 to 1 in config.xml.

Don't use Wordpad (it may change the formatting), and make sure Word Wrap is disabled in notepad.

Make sure to restart the GBPVR Recording Service after the change is saved.

XP SP2 + Latest Hotfixes, GBPVR v0.98.8, AMD Sempron 2500+, Abit VA-20, 512MB PC3200 RAM, Gigabyte Radeon 9250 128 MB VIVO AGP, ATI TV Wonder Elite PCI w/ Remote Wonder Plus, Creative Audigy 2 Value, 2x Seagate ATA/100 7200.7 IDE

Can someone explain what is happening exactly.

What is 'AutoDetectEncoderMethod'?
What is 2 VS 1?
Is there any other possible value?

Thanks

You probably dont need to know the nitty gritty details, but effectively it is the mechanism GB-PVR uses to ensure that it correctly finds all the components associated with a specific card in multicard setups, instead of using part of one card and part of another.

The only values are 1 and 2. '1' uses the mechanism recommended by Microsoft, but has been failing recently with some Hauppauge cards due to a bug with their driver. '2' was added in this release to work around the problem, but unfortunately I didnt notice before the release that method is incompatible with the ATI 550 Pro cards. I've adjusted the logic in the next build so that both '1' and '2' work with the ATI 550.
