Renamerecordings - any way to specify naming convention?

I would like to have each show not only have the date but also have an episode number that increments with each recording. Is there anyway I can do that?

Only manually. Because the data from zap2it and other xml grabbers is inconsistent, it's hard to have renamerecordings do it for you.
Try XRecord.
