I appoligize fully if this has been answered, but I have been searching the forums for 2 hours now and keep finding other people asking but can't find / or don't understand any answers.

I am using RenameRecoding and it is working perfectly with the -t to rename an epsiode with subtitle. However, I am VERY interested in having the episode number in the title as well.

I am using MyVideos and I think that when I do an episode lookup that it finds the episode number from TV.com.

Is there a way that the two actions can be combined?

For example:
1. RenameRecordings takes Lost_20060314_0938.mpg and renames it Lost - Solitary.mpg
2. In MyVideos it finds the episode information (from somewhere) when I do a Scan - Episode information. Whay can't it rename the file at this point to Lost - s01e07 - Solitary.mpg?

It seems to me that if the two people who wrote these could get together on it there could be some real magic!

To me it doesn't have to happen automatically or anything, I am fine with waiting in the MyVideos directory for this to happen.

Or of course, if there is another way to do it I am all ears (and eyes).

Thanks!

Is it possible for it to get the episode number from tv.com? If so can I put in a wish for a list by episode for a future edition? Or somehow add it to what I see on the screen?

It is just a pain when I record something in syndication and the episodes are so out of whack. I go to tv.com manually and rename the files myself.

This plugin is awesome by the way!

There has to be someway to do this... hmmm... if I only new programming...

reven,

I noticed that a lot of the shows already have the original air date in the database. Could a quick fix be to add "Air Date" in the sort by options?

(Haha I just noticed that in my earlier message I said I was waiting patiently... apparently I lied.)

the only info i get from the database is
- title, subtitle, desc, rating (cert, eg R18), when recorded

i dont interact with the gbpvr directly.

you may have to remind me when the final version comes out, ill do what sub does and release one version (stable) and then wait a week or two and release another version.

I am using RenameRecoding and it is working perfectly with the -t to rename an epsiode with subtitle. However, I am VERY interested in having the episode number in the title as well.

1. RenameRecordings takes Lost_20060314_0938.mpg and renames it Lost - Solitary.mpg

I use a fairly manual method that works well. Ahead of time, I browse through the GBPVR.MDB PROGRAMME table. I check a list of all of the shows I like, and manually type the episode number into the beginning of the subtitle field. so if "Solitary" was episode #40, the subtitle field would say "40 - Solitary". Then when rename recordings fires off, it would be "40 - Solitary.mpg" The great thing about renamerecordings is, you can change the subtitle AFTER the show is recorded, then run it, and it will UPDATE the filename with the new subtitle! SO you can have it name the show/file anything YOU want. Sometimes (rarely) the EPG has the wrong episode name.

It makes it much easier to sort, and keep track of what episodes youhave, and plan to make disks from.

P.S. One tip when entering subtitles manually, be carefull when hitting <Enter> after typing in Access, sometimes it will autopopulate the next field down with a sequential entry, then if you delete it, it now has a null entry and GBPVR doesn't like that. Sub bailed me out once, and I found out it was my error.
Always be carefull in the MDB!!

just to let you know tv.com changed their website and the episode number is no longer really available.

instead of season 2 episode 2, tv.com now display the episode number as a total so 2x02 becomes 2x24. which doesnt really make sense, and well they really cocked this up.....
