I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this but I wanted to share some of my finding.

Trans2MVP either crashed or worked perfectly for me. It depended on the source file. i.e. for a particular file Trans2MVP either worked perfectly or crashed every time.

I then installed several codecs - for some other reason.

Then Trans2MVP never crashes on me. However, for the files that once crashed, now the sound is out of sync - on both my 350 and MVP.

I made my first AVI with VirtualDubMod using XviD encoding. It plays in Media Player on my laptop. I tried for the first time to Transcode to my MVP, the MVP reboots and I have an error, crashed Trans2MVP.exe. I don't plan on using that often, I am curious of the space saved and quality of using DivX/XviD compared to MPEG files.

**EDIT**

Found the problem, should have known that Sub would make the Trans2MVP.exe spit out a log file. It's right in there, I never installed the MediaMVP software, the error messages says:

ERROR MainConcept (Hauppauge) MPEG Encoder not found. This is normally installed with the Hauppauge MediaMVP software, and is required to transcode a video file.

So I guess I need to install that and disable the MVP server to be able to Transcode or I need to just install an MPEG encoder.

Yes, you do need to install the MVP software.
Check in the MVP and AVIs thread for a link to a beta version that works very well.
Also, watch out as reinstalling drivers for a hauppauge capture card will erase that codec, forcing you to reinstall the MVP software again.
