I'm not sure if anyone here has had the occasion to need a product like this, but does anyone know of something that can connect to the audio out (or USB) from my HTPC and wirelessly (maybe 900Mhz or 2.4GHz) create a set of RCA type or mini-jack headphone plug at the recieving end?

I have one of those bose sound wave radio/cd players in my kitchen and it has an AUX input. Sometimes I want to be able to hear the music off my HTPC on that radio, but I don't want to run a 30' RCA cable through doorways and all that crap.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I guess you'd consider it overkill if it transferred video also? There are plenty of those devices out there, doing what you want, but more...

there are such devices. but keep in mind that most of them (as you mentioned) operate the in 2.4 GHz band. the same WLAN does.

i have a set of such transmitter. worked without problems until i began to use WLAN.
all WLAN devices lose connection immediatly if i turn the audio/video-transmitter on *g*

if you just want audio, a fm transmitter kit may be what you want. they do not cost too much and are easy to build. they normaly have a range of about 30 meters. and the quality is ok.

if you do not care that then your neighbours can listen to your music if they tune their radio to the same freuqency as your transmitter sends (adjustable), this could be the right thing for you.

My WLAN works fine with the transmitter on. Although I had to change channel, otherwise I'd get interference on the video receiver :-)

The fm transmitter thingy could be a solution, but they're not legal in all countries (Sweden being one of them).

uhm... yeah, it is illegal to operate a fm transmitter in switzerland too. _BUT_ using an fm transmitter for _TESTING_ is allowed (same in e.g. germany).
(so declare it as a test, et voila *g*)

there is a saying "if there is no suitor, there is no judge" (a more or less accurate translation).
operating a transmitter with a range of <=30 meters on a frequency no radio station is using wont bother anyone.
