OK, I tried a little more and it seems it´s the "next recording" panel that is causing it. I had to restart my computer to see that. Is there any way of keeping both the recording panel and be able to go into standby? The panel is pretty handy.

Sub,
No offence, but would it be possible to cache the recording panel information?

I guess the only times the information on the recording panel changes is after starting/stopping a recording and after updating the EPG. So only at that times the cache needs to be written. After that, disk activity isn't neccesary anymore?

I really like the recording panel; but i also want to keep the power-bill payable :) So it would be great if you could fix this.

The panel was only really intended to be a simple example to show the other developers the sorts of things that can be done. It wasnt really something I wanted to spend much time working on.

The original version did cache things, but that doesnt work very we'll in situation where you have MVPs and recordings may be being schedule on other clients. Unfortunately there is no way to know about these new recordings without polling the database.

For what it's worth, I had a similar problem when I first started with GBPVR.  My hard drive activity (and cpu usage) spiked every second or so when the recording service was running in the background (which for me is always).  After trying a bunch of different things, I downloaded and installed Intel's "Application Accelerator" off their website.  It's like I have a whole new machine now, no more spikes at all with the recording service.  Other apps run better also.  I highly recomend it if you have an intel chipset.
