HI All

After many, many happy months with a stable HTPC, something has broken it.

Windows XP froze on the login screen and wouldn't get any further
Windows blue screened when trying to boot into safe mode so that wasn't an option (and weird that I could get to the login screen when I booted normally, it just froze after I logged in)
CHKDSK was run but problem was still there
Tried to run a repair install of windows but that crashed half way through
Subsequent attempts result in crashes

So now after all that I'm left in an endless cycle of bluescreen crashes (and now way to turn off autoreboot)

Only way I can think of to fix this is to format the drive and start again.

So what I thought I'd do was to transfer the Hard disk from my HTPC to another machine have a look at it and extract anything useful.

So my question is, is there anything I can take from the GBPVR install that will enable me to keep my recordings in the recording database? The recordings themselves are all on a separate drive.

Any help gratefully received.

Your options include ...

Save gbpvr.db3 and config.xml and after a reinstall of gbpvr copy the old versions over the versions created by the install.

or

Press the Export Recordings button in config.exe and save the ?exportrecording?.xml file and after the re-install and re-setup of recording sources and all that press the Import Recordings button to to re-import the saved file.

The Export/Import route avoids carrying forward clutter from the existing setup to the re-installed setup.

It's the recording-dump.xml file, and it's automatically created each night when the EPG update runs (and of course also when you export recordings from config, but obviously you can't do that any more).
I'd suggest you save all three files. Use the database and config.xml first, and if for some reason it's corrupt, you can start over with a new database and then import your recordings from the recording-dump.
