hopefully someone can help me out there.
1. does anyone know if the hauppauge wintv pvr usb edition will support satellite(if not i will have one for sale soon [Image: sad.gif] )?
2. does anyone know of a program such as gbpvr that will support satellite?
any answers would be of much help, thank you in advance

Don't give up that easily!

Based on my research on the topic, the answer to your questions are going to be "no" and "no". Satellite signals (and digital cable signals) carry video in a compressed format which can only be decoded by a specifically engineered decoder / tuner (which the WinTV and similar TV tuner cards are not).

Actually, digital cable signals are a mixture of uncompressed signals (at the low end) and compressed signals (at the high end), but that's not your question.

If you're looking to use your WinTV card with your satellite tuner and GB-PVR, I think you can do this by running the output of the satellite decoder into the WinTV card and then using a IR relay system like USB-UIRT to change the channels for you.

Yes, this is the general approach used at the moment.

There will also be dvb support in the future.
