hummm? I wonder if it is beacuse the 350 has a hardware mpeg2 encoder??? You mention you have no TV tuner. mabe Yoda has some advice/knowelege. I used to see stretching in the MPEG and iso using xDVD before I made the change.
I wonder what Saberwul165 has in his machine. it seems like both of you are in the same boat when it comes to play mpeg playback.

Please post a screenshot of the video as it displays on your PC screen please, and I'll see if I can give you a sample .avs file you can try to play to see if it's better

Yoda,
I created an AVS file successfully. I even got the Add Borders to work. However, when the MPG is playing back when I Play the AVS, the MPG looks squashed horizontally. It does not if I just open the MPG directly. Any idea why this might be happening?

LilY0da Wrote:Convert MPG to AVI. -> not needed. Instead, the first line of your AVISynth script will be to open the MPG file
Use AVISynth to add borders -> yes, . I think the script command is AddBorders(x,y,l,r), or something like that. AVISynth's doc is pretty good, so you'll have to play around with it. You can test the result by simply opening the .avs file in windows media player
Convert AVI to MPG -> needed only if you want to permanently store a modified MPEG2 locally.

Ok, what is the easiest way to get an AVI to MPG? Assume some program will take my AVS as the input and output MPG.

GBPVR does that automatically when you try to play a .avs file on your MVP

If you want to do that yourself, you have to use a MPEG2 encoding software like FFMpeg or TMPGEnc. But again, not needed in most cases

What is the resolution your AVS script outputs?
