I use PQ DVD to convert my movies to MPEG4. Anyone know of a free utility to convert them to MPEG2? The Media MVP doesn't support MPEG4, thus I would like to get them to MPEG2.

Thanks.

I am not sure if that is AVI or not. FIles are .MP4 files. Here is some info on the format. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/technologies/mpeg4/

Is the free version of DIKO capable of converting DVD to MPEG2? It didn't appear to be. Looks like you need to upgrade to Gold to get that functionality. Are you using an older version?

I dl'd Diko.
I've looked in the forums & i've looked in the help file but I don't think I know what i'm doing.
Every time I try to convert an .avi file I choose the DVD option, but I get a directory of files. some look like video some look like audio non play id media player or power dvd & the extension is .mpv & .mpa .

Help.

I spent countless hours trying to get avi movies converted to a form that would play over the MVP. I had some success with DIKO and some success converting them to 640 x 480 per lilyoda see thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=4712

I finally gave up and purchased a Phillips avi dvd player ($55.00 US at Best Buy) . It plays almost every avi file I have.

Anyway, what you have now, I think, is a demuxed file. You need to combine the two parts to get a single mpeg2 file. Have you looked here?

Hope this helps.

This program will convert any type to any type you want and use any x-by-y you want if it is a legal ratio. You can even convert .MOV, and Shockwave flash files.
