Plugin causing a minor stutter?

I recently set up a new system for use with GBPVR and am loving it so far. The system is a clean Windows XP install on a machine only used for GBPVR. An Athlon 64 3200 with a gig of ram and a dedicated 250 gig recording drive.

I do have a couple of questions though. These are minor issues but it would be nice to resolve them. They both involve stuttering video.

1) When I am watching a recording and the recording service wakes itself to record another program I see for maybe a second or two a pretty pronounced stutter. Is it normal for the start of a recording to cause this behavior in playback?

2) I have been having a ever so minor stutter every 10 or 15 minutes. I have been experimenting to narrow it down. After much messing around I decided tonight as I sat down to watch 24 after it recorded that I would disable plugins before and then watch it. Well, I did not notice a stutter while watching that recording. It has only been one show so I know it is not definitive but it sure looks to be a plugin.

The plugins installed were

Comskip - Set to run when the program has finished recording. Most times I have noticed skips it has not been running.

My Pictures, My Music, My Video - All are installed.

Theater listing - I pull the listings manually still so it should be idle.

Weather - Set to pull weather every 60 minutes.

That's it.

My first thought is that it has something to do with comskip as I have only noticed the skip during recorded programs and not videos played through either Video Library or My videos. I don't believe it is a recording glitch as I can hit the back skip button and the same spot will not skip again.

I was wondering if it is somehow related to the setup. I have "Comskip.Exe
from current Directory" selected on the processing tab. I have Auto Skip Commercials set in the misc tab. Could it be a glitch with the Auto Skip option? I think my next experiment will be to turn that off and watch one of my existing programs. I'll need to find the remote reference to manually skip the comskip breaks then.

Those are my 2 minor items currently. If anybody can maybe save me some time troubleshooting that would be great! It's truly a great program and once I pay for all the hardware I used to set this up I will more than likely be donating.

im pretty sure (99% sure) it wont be my pics or my music, it *may* be my vids if you're using the wiki version (been a while since i looked at that code).

try deleting (or just renaming the extension) of the my vids dll and restarting gbpvr to see if the problem still exists, if it does you could manually try doing it with every plugin until it goes away. slow i know but it should work.

also try checking the gbpvr log while your watching tv and see if anything is printed to the log when the stuttering occurs (some plugins will output to there when an event occurs, mine mostly do).

Thanks for the feedback Reven. I really like your plugins by the way and look forward to the new versions.

Right now, the first and easiest thing to try is to disable the autoskip and rewatch one of my recordings with all the plugins re-enabled. Not tonight of course as I have already watched too much tv. If the stutter returns I will start trying to eliminate different plugins.

Edit: If it does wind up being your video plugin I may just live with it because I really like some of the functionality of that plugin. Smile

it will be fixed in the next version anyhow, theres only one thing i can think of that might (and probably isnt) causing the issue. and this isnt in the new version.
