Resurrecting this few months old thread. The theme I keep seeing is that people are using converters from DVI->Component. I assume that this is because you are connecting to non-digital displays???

I'm running a GF FX5200 and am having some glitchy problems but may be due to a bad card. I'm going to return it and get something else - either the same card or something new depending on what I'm researching here.

Question: With a plasma TV with DVI-in, it would seem to me that I would get my clearest picture using DVI-to-DVI right?

DVI to DVI would be your best bet as you stated.

Well I tried my DVI to DVI on my plasma but I found the picture "too harsh". I don't know how to expain it any other way than harsh. The picture was great, the colours great, the desktop was great. I could read text on the 42" display from 12 feet way. But I found I preferred the VGA input on my plasma better. It just seemed better, maybe a "little softer" in apperance. I am sure that is just a personal preference and may differ from person to person.

DVI to ~DVI keeps it all digital, I use this myself on my lcd. But if you prefer a softer picture thats upto you as you said its upto personal preference, did you use tweakui clear type programme to adjust the sharpness of the text.
