I am using 97.09 with my MVP setup wirelessly. I am having problems playing divx/xvids. If I just let them play, they are fine, but the minute I start to fast forward or skip it's pot luck as to what's going to happen. SOmetimes they just freeze, other times it will fast forward for a while then go back to the GBPVR program. Other times it will just go back to GBPVR straight away. I am sure in older versions it used to work fine.
Also, how do I increase the skip time to say 10 mins. I would like to do this with divx as the fast forward times are quite slow.

Thanks

You need to remember that when you play a xvid/dvix file on your MVP it needs to be transcoded to MPEG2 on the fly. It always starts at the begining of the file, and does the conversion as fast as it can. During playback you cannot fast forward or skip past the current conversion point.

There was a patch posted somewhere here that will stop it going back to GB-PVR's menu once it hits the end of the playback buffer though.

If you want to skip forward 10 minutes in GB-PVR, then press 1-0-skip. (assuming enough of the file has been transcoded to skip forward 10 minutes)

I see - I didn't realise that it had to convert the file from begining to end - just pressed pause and watched the time go up. I thought it just transcoded the part of the file I was asking for at the time e.g. 20mins. I suppose a good solution then is play, press pause, make a cup of tea, then ff and rew as much as I want!

Question - if I stop playing a file, then play it again, does the transcoding provess start from the beginning?
