I just bought a PVR 500, swapped out my two PVR 150s and when I did, the internal Cable tuner picture was hideous...

Did the standard stuff of testing the coax and reinstalling the drivers.

I even installed only the first tuner card, Cancelled the second tuner's install, and played with analog tuning that way...

Then I swapped back in my two PVR 150s and the picture was perfect (as perfect as it was)

It seems that the signal just isn't reaching the tuners inside the card...

I'm not going to spend too much time on it. I know for the exact same money I can get another two 150s, and I know how to work them.

But just in case. Is there something I'm missing that makes the tuning so lousy?

I used to ask 'why?' Now I just reinstall...

I'd bet your 500 is broken. You should be able to return it and get a new one...

Hmmm...I just got a 500 and am seeing sort of the same problem except that one tuner is fine the other looks really bad, like a weak input signal. Adding an amp made it better but still crappy. I wonder if there are some bad 500's out there? Perhaps some bad solder joints. Anyway, I also have a 150 in the system that I was feeding satellite into via its s-video port. I swapped it so that the weak side of the 500 is the sat via s-video and made the 150 cable input and now it all works OK. Still, both tuners of the 500 should work. Stefan might be right. Kinda disappointing...
