Having more money than sense :) , when I was preparing for my GB-PVR setup, I bought both a MediaMVP and a PVR350.  Now, I have a configuration that works wonderfully with the PVR350, and the MediaMVP is still in the box.

Being new to the PVR arena, I don't think I understand all of the possibilities that are available to me.

I imagine that, since the MVP doesn't have a tuner card, it would be useful in the following scenarios:

a)  for the playback of media after it has been recorded
b)  to be able to view recorded programs while others are being recorded
c)  to watch two different recorded programs simultaneously (provided that they could be modulated onto different channels and distributed appropriately)

I'm looking for any suggestions on how I might use these two in conjunction (assuming they're hanging off a single machine, and what benefits, if any, I might gain from such a setup (if it's even possible).

thanks,
junkman

With the MVP you can have a second full interface to GBPVR to setup recordings, view video and music and use the plugins from the MVP. If the one PVR-350 if free you can even watch live TV on it. The MVP is the thin client for GBPVR and you can have several of them for each TV in your house.
You can add additional PVR-250/350 cards to reocrd and watch multiple channels at the same time. This can give you a full networked PVR solution.

I already have the PVR modulated and distributed throughout my home, so I don't really need multiple MVP's to support multiple TV's because I've already got that, except that I currently cannot watch one thing and record another through the PVR, as far as I know, or watch two different PVR recorded items at the same time, and it seems to me that I'd be able to do with the MVP.

Related question: If I buy another PVR350, do I have to run another process of GBPVR, or can one process handle multiple cards?

With the MVP you can watch two or more recordings on different TV's

Yes, GBPVR can handle multiple cards with one process. It just needs to be setup in the config program as another carture source.

Got it. Thanks for the information.

One last question. Would it be better (more stable, perhaps) to use the MVP for all playback and interface control letting the PVR350 focus on handling the TV feed and recording?

I know the PVR350 not being able to pause / rewind live TV. Does the MVP have the same issues?

I don't think it would be more stable. It would give more flexibility in the viewing of different records at the same time. Someone else here may have another opinion on this.

Yes, it is an issue with GBPVR, not the hardware, but once it is resolved it will work the same on both devices.
