I received this error again today when trying to watch a recorded show.
I have attached my logs.

In this specific case, GB-PVR failed to get access to the Direct3D device. No real clues why though. If you swicted to 'VMR9' instead of 'VMR9 Custom' this bug would not be possible.

You shouldnt convert the files thats useless unless you want to burn them for storage. Stick with mpg, then any PC since Win95 should play it no Problem. Really, any WMV should play too, your PC may be a bit twisted, or maybe its the experimental nature of the conversion to wmv where the problem lies.
