I want to have a PC running on mt LAN network with GB-PVR.

I want buy three things.

TV tuner Card (Hauppauge PVR500)
REmote (Hauppauge MediaMVP)
and HD (250 GB)

I have an old PC with network-card installed. It matches the minimum requirement from Hauppauge on the 2 cards. So it is slow an old.

Will this work as a mediacenter for me?
And will the speed be acceptable?

I have another PC with Mp3 and pictures running on Lan. I want to play these files on my TV througt the LAN...

I know this might be to simple for the experts on this forum, but I would really apresiate any answer.

Thx in advance.

I think the minimum CPU clock for Hauppauge is 400MHz but I wouldn't use a CPU with a clock less than 1.4GHz. You can always start out with what you've got then upgrade if required.

First: The MediaMVP is not a remote... you know that, right? Are you thinking about using the mvp as a front-end to gbpvr (to use that to play the files on your tv)? If you are, then ok Smile

Second, I looked at hauppauges site for minimun requirements. For the MVP it says 128MB Ram... that will not be enough for running gbpvr on the computer. You will probably want 512 MB. The minimum requirement for CPU is 750Mhz. That will be enough for playing mpegs through the MVP. But you will probably find the menus a bit sluggish. And you will not be able to play divx on the MVP (it requires on-the-fly transcoding to mpeg on the server, which your CPU won't be able to handle fast enough).

Mp3Confused will be fine, I guess. I have no idea about jpgConfused.

The hauppauge site states minimum requirements 1.2 GHz for the pvr-500. That is better than 1.2 GHz, but you will still not be able to play divx on the MVP.

It's not
I thought it was used to execute your files fra a PC on your tele from anywhere on the network?

I guess the best way to learn is to buy Tuner and MVP.
Then i must invest in server capacity if the system dont work as hoped...

Thx for the quick answers Rolleyes

Yes, you have understood correctly. We're just not using the same terminology here Smile You connect the MVP between the LAN and your TV set. That way you can view MPGConfused on your TV without having to be close to your computer. And you can also get and control GBPVR through the MVP.

When you wrote "remote", I thought you meant that you wanted to buy a remote control. And the MVP is not a remote control. However, it does come with a remote control Smile
